Did anyone hear Trevor Horn on Graham Norton's Radio 2 show yesterday? Whilst I don't particularly like a lot of the music he's been associated with, there's no doubt that he's one of the most talented producers ever to set foot in a recording studio. His take on the CD vs Vinyl debate was interesting. In short, he can't understand the mystique surrounding the resurgence of vinyl as in his mind there's absolutely no doubt that CD is the superior sounding format, hands down. In fact, he mentioned that it's the closest possible source to the original master tapes. He also stated that most 'remastered' vinyl issues are actually mastered from CD sources. And this is a man who lives by the purity of sound.

Searching the interweb, I also found the following: [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]

There is no mystique. It all about Making Money. CD is far superior imho. All these CD's coming out taken from the original master tapes sound fantastic.

I do not & never have seen the logic is buying a Vinyl record sourced from a Digital file!   scratch
