DOCTOR WHO SERIES 10, PART 1 , the "Knock,Knock" episode (2017, uk)

The one thing you gotta remember here is that Dr Who was never strictly a scifi series. Its sci-fi-FANTASY.  And it was always the episodes that did not take place in space or futuristic worlds that interested Wallace the most.

This episode is an attempt at Gothic horror. (Funny - but not so strange due to budget restraints - that when Who  timetravels EARTH it is always either present day or Edwardian/Victorian ENGLAND.)

This one is present-time.
Poor university students are on the outlook for decent diggs. They luck out on a old man (David Suchet) offering them reasonable-rent accomodation in his gothic-like mansion (complete with turrent).
You soon get the feel that the interior WOODWORK - everything is wainscotted or woodpanelled, wood balustrades etc - is being stressed.
Well to put it short, the house needs to devour young people once every 20 years so that Suchet's ailing daughter (in the tower) is to be kept alive. The students, one by one, get incorporated - dissolve - into the woodwork.

Now things really get interesting when The Doctor believes it is dryads responsible for this. Dryads , as your Greek mythology should tell you, were female spirits of the woods - woodnymphs that lived in the trunks of trees and lured young men to their deaths. (There were also - as I seem to recal - hamadryads (nymphs of the mountains) and niads (of the rivers . Scandinavian mythology, by the way, also has alluring naked female river sprites called Necks.)

So that would have been great, but not to be. Its not dryads afterall, but cosmic woodlice! Hardly interesting , but Wallace supposes ot does explain why the victims have to be "pulled" into the woodwork beefwhore being devoured by the swarms of space insects. (Although later on this is not a prerequisite to their feeding.)

Indeed this episode is a veritable case study of inconsistencies, plot vacancies ; distinctly vapoury on explainations.

Tips is thinking,"And so it SHOULD be, you Wally. Afterall  its rubbish for kids. You don't dissect kidshit, you dummy."

Well...I suppose just so...just so.

Oh yeah - you know how Dr Who pretty-well uses the SONIC-screwdriver every episode?
Well here he does not, even though the woodlice are activated by high-pitch frequencies. scratch geek

Yes.
On her knees, Princess Diana gets the sonic to her ring.
The Dalek gets off on her total  subjugation.

Charlie just sits in the corner talking the importance of architecture.

Tipps:

there is nothing like the efficacy of a squirt of  man-slime in a juicy cunnyhole.

But I see by that emopticon you are wasting it by having it go down your throat.
