THE PREMATURE BURIAL ('62, US)

From Roger Corman's cheap-cheapo-made adaptations of Poe, the only one NOT to feature Vincent Price.
Here we have Ray Milland playing a medical student (50 year old student?- bad casting) with a paranoia of being entombed alive (due to catalepsy running in the family.
You watch this only for the presence of HAZEL COURT - one of the world's most beautiful women.

OH my, but she was a HOT FOX!  Too much!

To prevent premature burial he makes sure his "corpse" goes above ground in a mausoleum. There is a bell on top of the mausoleum to let peeps know he is alive. The coffin  has break-out tools within and , if this doesn't work, so as to pass the time, he has equipt it with interior lighting, Playboy magazines and a drain for the spunk.

As a kid I made it a point to go to the theatre to watch as many Hammer / Corman films as I could. I remember being disappointed with Premature Burial since there were no monsters to this horror film and no gore. (Poe's short stories were, of course, psychological horror - not monster shit.)
