I'm watching season 2 of "Inspector Lewis" now

Post by Wallace on Mon Oct 05, 2015 7:15 pm

I thought this a very clever bit:

The team of Lewis and Hathaway always are on the job in suits, but they showed them one time on their day off and it was emphasized (amongst a crowd of gay paraders) that both thought little of fashion.
Lewis was wearing the simplest-style of 70s beige jacket like oldmen such as myself wear and Hathaway was similarly tawdry-dressed.

This goes true with the created persona of the characters: Lewis despises class and ostentation. Hathaway attended the seminary beefwhore turning to police occupation, so it goes to reason he would be happy to live sparsely.

Yor foxed, pussbag.

Morse was a very highly-regarded series, still is. Lewis is an offshoot after Morse dies and his (unlikely) partner becomes himself inspector. It is every bit as good as
Morse was.
Gotta lurv an Oxford mystery with the beautiful buildings and the convoluted murders where every murderer loves to tantalize with scholarly clues (often demanding your knowledge of Latin or Greek.) Where the killer is into Percy Shelley or Tolkien.

This show is beyond the comprehension of your average old buffer.

You go suck my dick, alright?

Engy don't know nuffink. Wot you expect from an uneducated blue collar.

Lewis series weaves in obscure literature.
For instance "Allegory of Love" episode has mention of The Inklings and is filmed in the bar where they gathered. Although I have read at least 10 books by C.S. Lewis (and that is not counting his Narnia children's books) including the two thick volumes of his correspondences; I had never heard of the imaginary land of Boxen which he and his brother had worked on prior to Narnia. Also in this episode, they bring in Argentinian writer, Jorge Luis Borges fictional land of Uqbar.

In the 5th series in the "The Soul of Genius" we have a man fixated on solving an impossible riddle by Lewis Caroll (Alice in Wonderland).

Inspector Lewis mysteries often require of the audience some semblance of academe. (Just as with the previous Morse series, it would help if you had knowledge of opera themes.)
Its no Columbo or Murder She Wrote.

Suck me, Engy.

One trick prog pony.
Reading Sci fi kids stories and comic books ain't gonna teach you much is it ?
I read every spare moment. I always have a book in my pocket , always.
Even if I have twenty seconds without mental stimulus I get bored.
I crave history and knowledge. Always keep the brain active. ..always learn. ..then the brain will see you to 100 no problem.
You wear a paedophile's sweater ands root about in old bins.
