THE WICKED LADY ('83)

Post by Wallace on Sun Sep 13, 2015 10:15 pm

Great UK actors: Gilgud,Joan Hickson,Prunella Scales, Alan Bates but thin plot.

In Restoration England, a rich woman becomes a highwayman (robbing other rich) for a lark. Sorta Tom Jones-ish.
Only reason I watched it is that music is by Tony Banks of Genesis!

(Tits flop about rather frequently.)

I have to say that his performance in 'Arthur' wasn't his finest moment.

I said this here beefwhore: Sir Geilgud (however you spell it) was an odd bird towards the last ten years or so of his life.
He became utterly shameless.

His actor character was almost always the snooty bloke looking down his nose at bad manners, at low & high class alike, at those chasing after sex....yet , at the end of his career, in chosing roles he became NON-DISCRIMINATING .

Seems he would take any role however small, in any shit-movie no matter how much it discredited him.

The only reason I can see for this is that Sir John must have been doing this to amass as much money as possible to leave to his relations beefwhore he died.

For a man with such Shakespearian, stage pedigree to go to the stupid movies he did at the very last, well....very unsuitable in the least.
