upside down (2011, France/Canada)

Can Love override the immutable law of Gravity?
That is the question here.

Unique story concept of a solar system where two similar planets with opposing gravity exist one over the other.
When looking up, you see not the open sky but the opposite planet in reverse of wot yours is - only the top planet is wealthy & doing well but the bottom has the exact same cities, only in poverty & decay. One world where you always win, the mirror world where you always lose.

To get near the opposing world you have to climb high up mountains. So a boy on lower planet meets a girl from uptop planet (also standing on a mountain top (but inverted to his view). They cannot cross over to each's mirror world cos the physical laws will have you burn-up within an hour.

The girl falls and loses all memory.

Ten years later the boy has developed a formula that negates gravity - or gives opposing gravity, an inversion gravity. (Remember Disney's film, Flubber?) The wealthy "up" world (Trans-World) wants to get rich off the formula, making it into a body cream which when put on sagging cheeks, breasts...will lift them. They grant the discoverer a rare "pass" to the upworld. You cannot really go from one world to another, but they have built this gigantic skyscraper so high that the opposing skyscrper on lower shit-world touches it. Where the two meet you have business offices from both world's touching.

Because of fantastic panoramic vistas shown throughout this film, it would really be something to watch on Rudy's big screen set up.
The set design is amazing.
They must have had to endure technical hell to get these images. And it would have been hard on the actors as well -they would have constantly had to be conscientious of which specific gravity they are in and to work out the moves: how the object in so-and-so's hand would act in this reverse gravity.

Dialogue however is simple/ lame. Really basic. Real dissappointing,
And there are some ridiculous plot co-incidences.

Timothy Spall effects a flawless American accent here. So good, I think he was overdubbed.

If for real, then there are a handful of brit actors that do this real well - think Laurie in House.

I can do a Brit accent, but American is very difficult. Only cunts can talk like that and its hard to imitate a bona fida cunt. Who would want to, right?
